I have not travelled to the US since the inauguration nor do I intend to in future. I buy as little American goods as possible. I have invested in a Canadian social media company that resides here and look forward to shutting down my Facebook and Instagram accounts that I have not posted to since the inauguration. I have cancelled all American streaming services. I recognize that whatever comes out of the mouths of the American administration is likely untrue and/or bully tactics. Other than voting for the right political party here that can withstand the pressure I’m not sure what else I can do. Suggestions welcome!
Well done with the cancellations! Our household saved about $600 in streaming services, online subscriptions and social media. They were replaced with other positive diversions coming out of the UK, France and the rest of Canada. Cheers!
Certainly agreed: There is no doubt that American interests in Canada are already using psychological warfare. This is particularly true now, as you have listed. And more has in past been well documented, quietly, but nonetheless!
Canada's Long Fight Against Democracy – March 1 2024 by Yves Engler (Author), Owen Schalk (Author): is a book written by two Canadians who have well researched Canada's efforts over years to support the US to undermine other countries democratically elected governments.
Now we will see how good we are at countering such efforts against us.
Thank you, Mr. Halliday for putting the priorities.
It will be a choice for all Canadians to decide how much we are willing to belt-tighten to remain sovereign and keep our national values.
One of your readers has offered the question as to how much more he can do. My advice there would be to think of being in the Ukraine one snowy night in December, say three years ago…
There is always more to do if we think about it.
We might follow a course on civilian response in civil emergencies. Prepare for attempts to destabilize inner cities, for example during major gatherings like FIFA events. Possible attempts at sabotage to things like library computer systems, etc. Hydro disruptions due to interference.
Harder questions will make for better answers!
Suggestion: Quietly ask our friends how much they intend to, or might be willing, to sacrifice.
Are they willing to organize? Are they willing to resist force if necessary? If so, how much.
And to what degree, to make sure Canada stays strong and free?
I have joined Ontario Corps which is recruiting volunteers to help in case of emergencies like forest fires, floods, etc but of course civil disturbances, deliberate destruction of hydro or water facilities are also emergencies. However, bringing this topic up in conversation can get you labelled as a “prepper” or a “conspiracy nut”. In my opinion, it will take an overt act by the US administration to get Canadians to react. But in the meantime following the guidelines from Emergency Preparedness Canada (I think it is called) and encouraging your friends and family to be “prepared” is an easier conversation. I hope news about the civilian army comes out soon.
Well said Keith. I think you have a basis for your next thriller, although sadly with a non fiction classification. Let’s not forget CIA funding of project MKUltra in Montreal in the late 50s/early 60s! If there is any upside it is perhaps that regardless of who occupies the White House in the future, Canadians will be less tolerant of US interests dominating our collective psyche and manipulating our media, culture and politics. They are using bully tactics, and Churchill said the trick is to step on a bully's toes until he apologizes.
Toe-stepping would include such economically minor but psychologically-pointed moves such as:
- Dropping all American social media usage from all three levels of government. It's crazy that we are using Nazi/Pedophile-friendly Twitter to announce School Snow Days, from the actual School Boards. Drop them all. Same with Facebook for government communications. Say they are clearly just insecure and untrustworthy.
- Having our Justice request all the unredacted Epstein Files, because we have seen all the various foreigners mentioned in them, and are concerned there may be Canadians hiding pedophilia in the files.
- Suggesting that the United States may not wish to host the United Nations any longer, because of their recent criticisms of it. Offer to host the United Nations in Toronto. Or Vancouver, closer to Asia.
- Start a Drone Centre of Excellence with that new military budget, hiring Ukrainian instructors and developers, because of their recent successes in defending against a larger, aggressive neighbour.
- Start a school of "Non-Human Biowarfare" aimed to develop bioweapons for destroying a target country's meat and agricultural industries, with weaponized new versions of Mad Cow, Avian and Swine Flu. (Follows a suggestion from a CBC podcast
...in which they asked if young Canadians would be willing to fight. One grad student waved a hand at his shelf, pointed to a jar of Mad Cow (BSE) and said he'd backpack south and destroy most of their cattle industry. Personally. In about two years. "I'd just spray it in cow's faces, move to the next ranch.")
- Offer to make Puerto Rico the 11th province, since it is clear that they will never be a 51st state, that the US will never offer statehood to a new conquered territory...with a sidelong glance at Alberta.
Carney will never do this kind of aggressive stuff - but everything except the two schools is just nasty online posts...Doug Ford could make a play for PM by doing them. Unfortunately.
